first day alone in ann arbor

this is the beginning of my first day alone in ann arbor. mom, liz and my grandpa and grandma left at about 7:00 AM or so this morning. it was a sad time, seeing them leave and seeing my family cry because they were leaving me here. i know it was hard on them too, but they'll be alright. maybe it would have been easier had i just driven myself out here, but who knows. i'm glad they came. the first night here, i was thinking that i wasn't sure i was going to be strong enough to last all summer. i've never been this far from home for this long of time, but now i know i will be. i have confidence in myself and my abilities, even if they are a bit strained sometimes.

i have family not too far from here and the city is really nice. i just need to find people to hang out with when my cousins are busy. (though i did get a nice offer from my cousin liz to make food for me whenever i wanted... she even sent brownies back with me). I'll probably go exploring later to add some photos of ann arbor, but until then, here are some shots of my apartment and the complex i'm in. its an alright place, cheap for the summer (and for ann arbor) but well lived in.

what i mean.

thanks to maggie, i was allowed to bring her brother's bike, and here it sits, safe and sound in the other bedroom :) other pics will follow as i have them to add.
